Kev-Marv Productions' 2008 Boston Northeast Motorcycle Expo (cont.)

It's a Family Affair - Jose Faria, Alica King and son Domenic (15 months) of Danvers, MA where at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA to show Jose's custom 2006 Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 883. This cool custom features a wild paint job, hypercharger air cleaner and custom pipes. Jose credits Jesse's Custom Design, Alantic Customs, Biker's Outfitter and US High Tech for work on his bike. Jose named his bike "Sinister." The Sportster was a crowd pleaser.

It has it all - Dale Dennis of Hudson, MA has put just about everything possible into his 2002 Suzuki GSX R1000. Dale had it on display at the Kev-Marv Productions'' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. The list of things done to this bike goes on and on including 15" over swing arm, RC Component wheels, Nitrous Oxide, Custom paint, Extensive chome and if it isn't chomed it's powder coated. It even has a Power Play video game, DVD/MP3 player, 2 LCD monitors and a back up camera with a 5.5" LCD monitor. The show crowd flocked around Dale's creation all weekend.

Hubless - This 1987 Harley-Davidson Sportster was a real head turner at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. It is the brainchild of Matt Low of Salem, NH and Erick Michaud of Plastow, NH. The Sportster was built and converted to a hubless 250 rear wheel for a University of New Hampshire (UNH) Senior project. If you look closely, you'll see the rear disk brake attached to the primary sprocket shaft. According to Matt, a chain guard is in the works...seems like a very good idea.

Innovative and Cool - That's what this writer thought about this 2006 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 "Bagger". Ben Lombardi of Chelmsford, MA bought his unique custom Kaw to the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. With it's Harley-style saddle bags and  custom orange and black flame paint scheme, this is the one bike in the show that stopped spectators dead in their tracks. Most weren't sure what to make of it but Ben said it was all pretty simple. He was tired of riding with his better half and having no place to carry stuff. Ben chose the different solution with these style bags and with a 330 rear tire kit made it all work. Ben got a third in the "Bagger" class but made his point to all who saw it that Ninja's make cool baggers too.

Pristine "Bobber" - Which is exactly what Sal "Olman" Mondello had on display at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. Sal calls his custom "Death Card" and drives the point home with two skull-embedded aces of spades painted on the Sportster tank. Frame is a Paughco rigid wishbone and forms the cradle for a 1969 H-D Shovelhead. The Shovelhead gets some added muscle with S&S flywheels, Andrews cam and KB Pistons. A 4-speed transmission spreads out the power to the 16 inch rear wheel. The 21 inch front wheel is controlled by 16" apehangers. The workmanship on this "Bobber" was exceptional.

What the Heck is it! - That was the question of the weekend among spectators at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. It is called the "Stallion" and it is built by Thoroughbred Motorsports, a subsidiary of trike conversion producer Motor Trike. The Stallion is powered by a 2.3-liter, 155hp, Ford four-cylinder engine and has a Ford 5-speed automatic transmission with reverse. There are no handlebars on this "trike". Steering is accomplished with an car steering wheel and the dash looks like it's right out of your family sedan. It also features A/C and heat for both driver and passenger along with AM/FM radio, CD stereo player and cup holders. Add power disk brakes, air-ride suspension, cruise control and you've got quite the package in this trike. For those who are economy conscious, the Stallion comes equipped with a 9.5 gallon fuel tank and gets 45 mpg highway and 35 mpg city. It weighs in at 1700 pounds.

Tribute Bike - Kurt Neligon rebuilt this 1998 H-D Fatboy after it was totaled in an accident that killed three of his friends. Kurt dubbed his Fatboy "East Coast Irish" and had it on display at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. On September 9, 2006, Kurt made a trek to Laconia with his friends when a Jeep plowed through a line of seven motorcycles in Stoddard, NH. The accident took the lives of three riders and injured two. The riders who died that day were Steven Leamy, Larry McFetridge and Chris Fontaine. Kurt's tribute to his lost friends was to rebuild his bike, immortalize his friends in paint and to ride and show his tribute thus keeping their riding legacy alive for all to see.

Tribute in Paint - Here is a closer look at Kurt Neligon's tribute in paint to three of his friends who lost their lives in a tragic accident in Stoddard, NH. The 1998 H-D Fatboy was on display at the Kev-Marv Productions' Northeast Motorcycle Expo held February 9 & 10 at the Bayside Expo Center, Boston, MA. Honored in the tribute-paint scheme are Steven Leamy, Larry McFetridge and Chris Fontaine.

2007 NY Cycle Show Pics...

We finally got to sit on the new Moto Guzzi Norge. Logan really liked the bike, although he didn't think it would make a very good dirt tracker!!. Look for a test feature on this bike in the coming issues.

Our man Logan Myers is pictured here with 1977 Daytona Superbike winner Cook Neilson. Ducati unveiled the NCR built "New Blue" which was styled after "Old Blue"; the bike that Neilson, Editor of Cycle magazine at the time, and Phil Schilling put together for the Daytona event. Neilson resides in Vermont.

The MV Agusta, Cagiva and Husqvarna camp had their full range of dirt and hyper-sport exotica on display, including this Cagiva sport single they call the Mito 500. Powered by a Husqvarna 510 DOHC single four stroke engine, the light weight machine is based on a 125cc two-stroke machine the company offers in Europe. The motorcycle drew a fair amount of attention from those that can appreciate the benefits of a light weight sport bike. Go to www.mvagustausa.com and let them know what you think.
